“Russia-Armenia relations are about to break” – Dr. Ahmad Shahidov told ARB24 channel

In recent weeks, there has been serious tension between Armenia and Russia. In response to Nikol Pashinyan’s anti-Russian policy, official Moscow has already launched economic pressure.

Another problem has emerged regarding the Upper Lars crossing point connecting Armenia to Russia through Georgia. This point, which has become a real headache for the Armenian government for a long time, has been closed by Russia once again. Although the official Yerevan tried not to politicize the issue, in fact the closure of the crossing point coincided with Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan’s refusal to participate in the CSTO summit.

Considering that the Kremlin occasionally uses its economic levers against Armenia, it can be assumed that this issue is also a message to Nikol Pashinyan. Armenian producers have not been able to transport their products to Russian markets for 5 days. 1,700 trucks, mainly carrying fish, flowers and other agricultural products, were stuck in Lars.

Speaking to ARB24 Television on the subject, political analyst Dr. Ahmad Shahidov commented on the tension observed in Armenia-Russia relations, and at the same time assessed the possibility of a military clash between NATO and Russia.
