“Azerbaijani children were also the target during the Armenian occupation” – Dr. Ahmad Shahidov told the CBC Azerbaijan channel

Today is International Children’s Day.

On June 1, 1950, at the international women’s conference organized by the UN General Assembly, it was decided to dedicate June 1 to the protection of children. After that, that day went down in history as the International Children’s Day.

A convention on children’s rights was adopted at the UN, and Azerbaijan joined this convention after gaining independence. As in all democratic states, special importance is attached to the protection of children’s rights in Azerbaijan.

Azerbaijani children suffered the most damage during the occupation of Azerbaijani lands by Armenia. Dr. Ahmad Shahidov, a human rights defender who gave an interview to the CBC Azerbaijan channel, said that during the First Karabakh War – during the Khojaly Genocide, Baganis-Ayrim, Garadaghli and other massacres – as well as during the Second Karabakh War, Armenians targeted civilian Azerbaijanis – women and children. Dr. Ahmad Shahidov said that this issue is always on the agenda of the Azerbaijani side and noted with regret that international organizations remain silent on this issue.
